An American military supercomputer, assembled from components originally designed for video game machines, has reached a long-sought-after computing milestone by processing more than 1.026 quadrillion calculations per second.

Pity the military is using it. Would rather see all that processing power put to another use (such as medical). Calculating what happens in the first nano-seconds of a nuclear explosion doesn' t help too many people.

they are using it for non-military stuff first, then eventually they' re going to move it to a secret location and do military stuff.
