With Opec having emergency meettings to cut the supply it won't be too long before we see things bounce back up.

Y'know, I was inclined to agree, but I'm suprised it hasn't hit sooner. It's dipped down to $2.18 in the last few days where I live. There's a gas station a few miles north of me that's running it for $2.10, with no signs of slowing down.

What's our take on this Kikizo? Speculation, OPEC, or good 'ol supply and demand?

Right now it's supply and demand. But, as emofag said, it'll change soon.

Hmmm, when gas is "cheap" it's always more expensive here, when it's "expensive" it's cheaper here, wtf.

They've trimmed oil production by 1.5 million barrels (daily?) though, so it'll peter out soon enough, via speculation or natural market recovery.

Someone might want to change the topic heading to 'Why the World is in recession'. As China are now claiming they are in recession, why you might ask...well a toy factory had to close putting somewhere in the region of 1000 people onto unemployment...it must be bad if that's happening in China.

As for Emofag's house prices doubling in a year, I would have thought that might have been a bit slow, as in the height of the property boom in the UK in the early to mid 90's house prices were almost everywhere doubling in 6 months.

The most obvious effect I personally experienced firsthand is the ridiculous inflation of house prices.

In around 2003 my friends, relatives, etc. were buying brand new houses for 150-200k, which was about the median range here at that time . In 2004/2005 most of them sold those houses for 400k+, I thought it was bullshit that people were just making up the #s, no way a house can more than double its value in a year, untill I saw my parents actually sell a 150k house for 450k, I was there seeing the transaction, couldn't believe something like that was actually possible.

So that's why we're fucked.

As far as this crunchy credit is concerned, I'm no economist, but I dont think the world economy will ever be balanced. Its strange because theres more than enough resources out there for everyone, so someone must have it stashed away somewhere!

I don't have a problem with violence but the ideas are just so primitive and stupid. Islam is where Christianity was 1500 years ago. The idea of having Sharia courts in London is nucking futs! So much for human rights.

Its not so much the violence, its the violence without gain, and typically violence with their own loss. Thats stupid, from a religious, secular, and species standpoint.
